In the 1928, Herbert Donovan Hopwood, a
young salesman of firm ambition, decided to swap his growing career
for a chance at a dream hed been quietly nurturing time.
Ever since his first big sale. H.D Hopwood knew he could
be the finest manufacturers representative in the country.
He leased a modest 1,000 sq warehouse and office in the Kingston
waterfront, armed himself with a small staff of five, and began
selling as many products.
Today, H. D. Hopwood
is one of the largest distributors and importers of pharmaceutical
and consumer products in Jamaica, as well as a licensed manufacturer.
Representing some 40 multi-national companies, the Hopwood
team now stands at 285 and distributes many leading brands
such as Quaker, Cadbury, Kimberly Clark,
Dole & Seven Seas.
We are more diversified now than weve
even been. Our pharmaceutical and consumer products are distributed
to a wide range of customers in Jamaica and to targeted markets
in and around the Caribbean. It is our reputation for consistent
efficiency, however, that has made us a trusted name in the industry.
In September 2001 the Neal and Massy Group
of Companies, one of the Caribbeans largest conglomerate
acquired 100% ownership of H. D. Hopwood.
